Across the country, temperatures are dropping. People are staying home in the warmth and keeping their pets by their side — except for one woman, who left her poor pup outside to freeze.
The little Pekingese or Chihuahua mix was found shivering in the 7-degree weather for 45, minutes after she was tied to a bench outside the Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem, Massachusetts.
Cameras caught her owner dressed in camouflage, trying to open the door around 8:30 in the morning, though the shelter wasn’t to open until 10. After a few seconds, she and the man accompanying her decision to tie up the pooch. They were seen driving away soon after.
The dog was found, warmed up, and given food. The shelter, appalled by such reckless abandonment, wrote on their Facebook page:
“Whoever you are that left your dog tied to an outside bench at our shelter this morning – she was discovered 45 min later after being outside in the 7-degree weather. Maybe we’ll never know the name she has always known, what she has been through, or why you didn’t go to another door at our building to talk to someone instead of just leaving her tied up but she gobbled up a warm meal and is wrapped in blankets and getting warm. She’ll be safe with us until she finds a new home with someone who will love her forever.”
Hopefully, this precious pup will find a loving home very soon!
