5 Curious Dolphins Mimicking Squirrels Show Just How Smart These Creatures Are

When you go to a zoo or aquarium, you’ll most likely see fellow guests looking and learning about different animals. On special and rare occasions, though, there are those moments at zoos when it’s the animals who are in awe of other species.

Amy Schumacher shot this amazing video of dolphins on September 27, 2017, and it is guaranteed to blow away any animal lover.

I love dolphins because, not only are they super playful and cute, they’re also really smart and inquisitive. Nothing proves that more than when a pod of dolphins at SeaWorld Orlando encountered a couple of squirrels for the first time.

As you’ll see in the clip below, the dolphins in the dolphin nursery were absolutely mesmerized by two squirrels running around on the ground in front of their tank. They all crowded together to watch the spectacle.

The four dolphins get right up to the tank to stare at the squirrels as they run around. Their body movements even mimic that of the furry animals. When the squirrels start running in the other direction, the four dolphins swim over to where they are.

While a fifth dolphin couldn’t care less about the squirrels (and even seems to nudge a friend to play), the other four cannot look away from the unusual sight in front of them.

It’s not until the fifth dolphin finally spots the squirrels that she joins in on the gawking.
