Wang Yan, a 29-year-old man from China did something amazing with the millions of dollars he had.
He took his life’s earnings to save dogs who were about to be slaughtered.
It all started when Wang Yan lost his own dog and searched everywhere, including slaughterhouses, to try and find his beloved pet.
“I went looking everywhere, but all to no avail,” Yan remembers. “Finally someone let me go into the slaughterhouse to try my luck there.”
Unfortunately, Yan did not find his dog but when he saw all those poor dogs at the slaughterhouses, he knew something had to be done. The dogs in the slaughterhouse were sentenced to death and their treatment was inhumane.
Yan at the time, had a net worth of several million Chinese Yuan. He did something amazing: he bought the slaughterhouse, rescued the dogs, and built a shelter for them.
The shelter currently houses 215 dogs. But his generosity has saved many more lives.
“Right now, we only have 215 dogs,” he said. “The most we’ve had at one time is 1,000, many of them have been adopted.”
Wang Yan is in debt now, but has no intentions of shutting it down. He continues to feed and take care of all the dogs that pass through. Wang Yan is teaching himself veterinary basic and experiments on himself to see if his methods work.
While Wang Yan refuses any monetary donations, he does accept food, water, and other supplies to help care for all the dogs.
Since Wang Yan’s incredible act of kindness has gone viral, he has received offers from so many others to help him out on his mission. One local pet shop owner called him to say he would like to de-worm and bathe all the dogs at the shelter for free!
Wang Yan’s shelter also provides medical services to dogs that have owners who can’t afford to vet them. In return, donations are made to help the dogs still at the shelter.
Thank you, Wang Yan, for being so selfless in your actions!
