Debra Cantwell is the adoption coordinator at SPCA In 2014, she came across a chihuahua who gave birth to four babies prematurely. She delivered the puppies so early, that two of the babies did not make it, and the other two were rejected by their mother. The SPCA needed to help these babies survive.
Cantwell and her team brought the babies to the shelter and brought them to a nursing cat. They were hoping that she would accept them as her own babies. It worked, the Siamese cat mother instantly fell in love, nursed them and raised them as her own.
In the video below, you can see the strong maternal instincts she has! It’s just so awesome to see animals love each other despite their species. Us humans can learn a lot from them!
