One-Week-Old Baby Elephant Rescued After Being Separated From His Mother

The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT) is one of the world’s most successful elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in East Africa. After the trust was founded in 1977, their mission is to protect, conserve and preserve wildlife. Rhino orphans, elephants, and other species are given medical care so they can be released back into the wild to live free.

Samburu tribesman were taking care of a 1-week-old baby elephant. The newborn elephant had been found alone in the Ndoto Mountains. They named him Ndotto. One of the Samburu tribesmen walked for more than a day to get help for the weak baby. DSWT was contacted, and a helicopter immediately went to rescue Ndotto.
