When Gina, an Imgur user, agreed to take care of her friend’s cat while she went to Navy boot camp, she had no idea what she was in for.
“About two weeks into the cats are moving in; my roommate texted me that Terra seemed bloated. She did, but since she was purring and not in pain, I put off taking her to the vet to get checked up, since I thought maybe she was just a fat cat.”
About a week later, Gina heard noises coming from the room the cats were in. She looked underneath Terra and was shocked to find seven healthy kittens!
Terra was a great mother to her litter of seven. Here’s a photo of her nursing.
Gina’s dog, Archer, is a wiener mix, took an unusual interest in the 7 little babies. Mama cat didn’t seem to mind that Archer would lick them all over, and keep an eye on them.
Archer even kept the other house dog, a basset hound named Flash, away from the kittens. He would hover over them when Flash came too close. Archer even kidnapped two of the kittens and brought them to Gina.
“I was watching TV and looked down, and he had carried two out to chill with us…he even brought one into my bed,” Gina said.
Terra seemed to like her new babysitter. Archer even gave them baths!
Gina even adopted one of the orange kittens for herself, and named him Fred. Three years later, Archer and Fred are still the best of friends. They still enjoy cuddling and grooming each other.
Eventually all of Terra’s kittens were adopted and are currently living happily in their forever homes!
