Unfortunately, many animals are abandoned by their owners. Either the owners realize they cannot care for their pet anymore, or sometimes they no longer want the poor animal anymore. It is just a cruel and unjust way to treat them.
However, people are willing to take in those creatures that have been abandoned.
Recently in South Carolina, Blanca Cushman and her cousin found a dog tied to a tree behind a parking lot. He was left with a hand-written note, and his owner was nowhere to be found.
While walking out of a store, Blanca’s cousin spotted a small dog tied to a tree. The owner was nowhere in sight and they didn’t want to leave the poor dog alone.
There was a handwritten note along with two empty dishes, and a backpack. After they read the note, they were heartbroken!
The note said that the dog’s name was Scooter and his owner Eric Dugwyler had been arrested for narcotics possession the night before. He did not want to give Scooter to the police and left him with his two friends. His friends abandoned Scooter once the cops took Eric away.
Blanca posted the story on Facebook and sent a message to the Lost and Found Pets in Columbia page, pleading for someone to help. The plea was answered by the operator of South Eastern Homeless Animals shelter, Paula Langford.
Paula is now taking care of Scooter and hoping that soon a loving family rescues him and wants to raise him on their own. He’s full of love and affection, and anyone would be lucky to have him as a pet.
Blanca and her cousin were interviewed by local reporters and wanted people to know what had happened to Scooter, and hopefully prevent something like this from occurring again.
We hope that someone adopts Scooter soon.
