Thousands Of Deer Take Over This Road Each Day. The Reason No One Bothers Them Surprised Me!

In most parts of the world, we expect animals to keep to themselves and stay off our roads, but every once in awhile we get a wild surprise. In many Asian countries, many animals are free to roam as they please. The city of Nara, Japan, is one very extreme example! The spotted deer population in Nara is completely overwhelming, as you are about to see…

The reason they travel to the city’s center? Probably food, but it could also be according to a local legend that the god Takemikazuchi arrived in Nara on a white deer to guard the newly built capital of Heijo-kyo. As a result, they’re considered holy animals, protectors of the emperor and the country and nobody dares to touch them.
