Baby Chimp Was So Depressed And About To Give Up On Life, Then A Miracle Happened

Jenny, a 10-month old chimpanzee, has not had a very easy life. Jenny was tied up in a yard, and the rope caused some wounds on her hips. Ape Action Africa and a neighbor helped rescue Jenny.

Because of her abuse and isolation, she is afraid of humans and has a long way to go to recover. At first, when Jenny came to the center, she didn’t want to be touched and was very skittish.

She was scared, disoriented, and exhausted. During the car ride, Jenny just sat in a ball on the floor grasping the blanket.

During her second car ride, she began to understand that these humans were trying to help her and she eventually fell asleep in the lap of one of her rescuers named Rachel.

Jenny had a nice long sleep at the sanctuary. Her rescuers have hope that her recovery will go well. She has a long way to go to get over her past; she still doesn’t like to be held.

Jenny does allow the staff to groom and pet her gently. They are slowly building up Jenny’s trust and confidence.
