f you’re a dog lover, you know that snuggling with your pup can calm you down and make you feel better. The Juravinski Hospital in Canada has a program allowing animal lovers’ pets into the hospital to visit with their seriously ill owners. This program helps improve morale and reduces the patient’s stress.
Zachary Noble and his aunt, Donna Jenkins, designed the program when Zachary was a patient of the Juravinski Hospital battling cancer. All he wanted was to see his dogs! The visits with his dogs always led to improvement in his condition and attitude. Although Zachary lost his battle with cancer, Jenkins is honoring Zachary with her foundation Zachary’s Paws for Healing.
Zachary’s Paws for Healing has become the first organization in Canada to allowhospitalized patients visits from their companion animals.
Zachary’s Paws for Healing is a 100% volunteer program! Jenkins is so happy with the outpouring of support for this program and hopes it will spread to other hospitals.
Zachary’s Paws for Healing hopes to alleviate the concern patients have for their pets.
