Dad Grieves Over Missing Dog. 2 Years Later, A Stranger Says He’s Right Behind His Garage Door

In 2012, Julio and his brother Sam brought Duke, an 8-week-old Great Dane puppy, home to Oklahoma City. Julio and Duke became best friends.

On Christmas Eve of 2013, Julio let Duke outside just like he normally did — but Duke disappeared from his yard. Heartbroken, Julio spent the next days, weeks and months trying to track down his beloved Duke. After all, the dog was microchipped and registered.

Time passed and yet there was no sign of Duke.

Fast forward to March 2016. David Walker went outside on his remote ranch in Navasota, Texas. Out of nowhere, David saw a Great Dane standing there, looking right at him.

The giant dog was friendly and eager, so David drove him to the vet. Lo and behold, it was Duke, who had somehow ended up 350 miles away from his home! The vet told David that Duke was healthy, but needed to gain some weight.

Later that day — some 800 days after Duke went missing as a puppy — David called Julio with the shocking news. Julio and Sam made the four-and-a-half hour drive from Oklahoma City to Navasota to bring Duke home.

Any doubt over whether or not Duke would remember him was squashed the moment Duke heard the sound of his truck engine. This reunion is so heartwarming!

Now, life is back to normal for Julio and Duke. Julio says his four-legged friend is just as goofy as ever.

Julio is eternally grateful to David for doing the right thing. He hopes his story serves as an important reminder for pet owners to get their dogs and cats microchipped.
