This Blind Dog Clings And Becomes Attached To The First Person She Meets At The Shelter

When a dog comes to the animal shelter, they develop a deep sense of disconnection because they are no longer someone’s pet. They are sad and often confused. And appear very hopeless and sad.

When Muneca arrived at the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center in Los Angeles and she seems eager to connect.  Maybe that’s why Muneca was so eager to make a connection since the 18-year-old dachshund had already lost more than most dogs.   Sadly she lost her home and an owner,  and when you thought she has had it rough, she lost her vision..

Elaine Seamans is a longtime volunteer and she paid Muneca a visit on Tuesday.  And to her surprise  the blind, flea-infested dog leaped into her arms and wouldn’t let go, she held on for dear life.

Muneca found two friends and was so happy in the moment. John Hwang had stopped at the shelter with his camera. He was on his way to take pictures for a photography project involving LA’s Skid Row. Seamans thought perhaps he might like to take pictures of another kind of homelessness. Perhaps change it up a bit for him!

“When I got to the shelter, Elaine was already holding the dog,” Hwang tells The Dodo. “The dog was clinging on to her.”

“Elaine is so amazing with the dogs,” he adds. “She’ll roll on the ground with the shelter dogs. She’ll kiss them. She really has a special chemistry with them. I love capturing that.”

Sadly, so many rescued friends come in, sad, scared and even disoriented.  But this time, someone managed to capture just one of those moments.
